The present article aims to identify the competencies required in the aviation sector within the context of industry 4.0. To achieve this, the research was conducted in two methodological stages. First, a questionnaire with open-ended questions regarding challenges and necessary competencies was distributed via Google Forms to 19 managers from companies in the industrial sector. In the second stage, the Delphi technique was applied with five industry specialists to deepen the analysis and reach a consensus on the essential skills. The results indicate that, in addition to technical competencies such as automation and programming knowledge, soft skills – including communication, empathy, and adaptability – are crucial for navigating the constant changes brought by Industry 4.0. The study also reveals that a shortage of qualified labor and resistance to cultural change are significant barriers to the implementation of these technologies. In conclusion, preparing the Brazilian aviation sector for a technological future requires continuous investment in both technical and socio-emotional skill development, as well as the promotion of an organizational culture that values innovation and collaboration.
