Abstract

The National Policy on Continuing Health Education outlines strategies aimed at enhancing and qualifying professional practices in healthcare through teaching and learning processes. These strategies are based on actions that foster and integrate knowledge to ensure the continuous improvement of professional practices within hospital settings. This article aims to identify Continuing Education practices implemented in hospitals in Brazil. To this end, scientific articles published between 2017 and 2022 in Portuguese were reviewed, using the following databases: BVS (Virtual Health Library), PubMed (National Library of Medicine), and SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online). The findings highlight that the experiences analyzed underscore the importance of Continuing Education in guiding work practices in hospital contexts. However, it was observed that these initiatives primarily focus on the nursing staff, with limited involvement of other professional categories. As a result, the lack of participation from other professionals in the planning and development of such activities hinders the integration of knowledge necessary for comprehensive patient care.
