To analyze the conception of full-time education existing in the Law on Brazilian Education Guidelines and Bases (LDBEN) – Law 9394/1996, after its amendment by Law 13,415, February 16, 2017, this paper aims to verify whether this conception meets the requirements of the school communities. The precarious conditions of Brazilian public schools for the implementation and administration of full-time education reveal the existing gap in the achievement of the objectives of the current legislation, which is the result of an educational policy designed without the participation of the school community.
