Resumen

The objective of this article is to reflect on qualification and the competence model, as they have been approached in the fields of sociology, management, and education. It starts from the emerging development model, capturing contradictory interpretations of those concepts with respect to relations between the world of labor and life. The starting point is the productive restructuring processes, an element of the history of the social production of science and technology. Interlinking them has opened up improvised perceptible means for carrying out intersectorial negotiations to discuss what kind of centrality is assigned to education, especially professional training regarding pedagogical practices.
